SOBMX riders left last week’s AMA Amateur National Championships with twelve top tens, six top fives, four podiums, and one championship. Led by Jordan Jarvis who swept all three motos of the Girls 9-13, and Jamie Astudillo who scored a second overall in the Girls 9-13 it was a great week for South of the Border riders!
Jarvis led most of the laps in motos one and three and made a dramatic last turn pass to take the win in moto two. Jamie came from last in the final moto to take a hard fought third place moto finish and second overall. Caden Braswell was third in the 65cc 7-9, one spot away from a title, and eighth in the 65cc 7-11 class. Brock Papi scored a third and a fourth in the Senior Mini classes. Brandon Hartranft rode an awesome final moto to move into a top five spot in Schoolboy 1 while Jeffrey Shealy finished on the podium in moto three to capture seventh overall in the 65cc 7-9.
Jerry Robin had hard fought finishes of seventh and eighth in what were probably the toughest A classes in recent memory. Katie Benson and Brilee Stott each scored top ten finishes!
