The 2012 Windy Hills Regional in Ellerbe, NC turned out to be great weekend of racing for our South of the Border MX riders! Here’s a recap:
Christina Older won her regional qualifier to qualify for LLs for the 5th straight year. Older is moving to the Women’s class this year after finishing 2nd and 4th in the Girls class in 2009 and 2011.
Jamie Astudillo was a first time qualifier in the Girls 9-11 class. She was 3rd at her regional in Kentucky.
Cooper Webb qualified in 250B stock and modified and 450B modified willing all 9 of his motos at Steel City Raceway in Pennsylvania.
Jacob Knable will be making his second straight trip to LLs by virtue of 2nd place finish in 450A and a 7th in 250A. Jacob scored a 6th overall in 2011.
Cody Gragg was second in 250A and 2 stroke. Cody is coming off a 2nd place at the 2011 national.
Jacob Blomfield has overcome several injuries to qualify in 450A and 450A Prosport this year.
Shane Hall qualified in 450B stock and mod and Collegeboy to return to a race he had great success at on minis.
Maksis Vilcins and Nicholas Weddington were 6th and 7th in 250C mod. Each will be making their first trip to Loretta Lynn’s.
Matt Burkeen qualified in 450B stock and mod to earn his 11th straight trip to LLs.
Karina Carrasquillo and Jason Astudillo are sitting in very strong alternate positions in the Girls 12-15 and Open Pro Sport.
