South of the Border Motocross Training Facility had a banner year in 2013. We had a lot of changes, new faces, new track upgrades and new stars in the making. As the 2014 Motocross, Supercross and Arenacross seasons kick off; we look back at some of the 2013 winners.
Motocross Results For 2013
The 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship wrapped up its season at the Red Bull Nationals in Lake Elsinore, CA. Ryan Villopoto already had enough points to secure the 450 Class title coming in to the meet, but rode hard and took home the final two motos of the year. Ryan Dungey was the runner-up for 2013, and fan favorite James Stewart finished 5th for the year.
Eli Tomac was the 250 Class Champion Motocross champion for 2013. Rookie Cooper Webb of Morehead City, who spent a lot of time at South of the Border Training Facility in 2013, finished 9th in the 250 Class. Our Cooper Web Day was a big hit and we look forward to having another one this year. We know Cooper will have more wins and we expect a great year lies ahead for him.
Arenacross Results For 2013
The 2013 Arenacross Championship was won by Tyler Bowers. This was his third straight championship, an amazing feat by this young rider that many people think will move up to Supercross and find success there as well. Tyler currently sits in second place in the 2014 Amsoil Arenacross series, just six points behind Zach Ames.
Supercross Results For 2013
The 2013 Monster Energy Supercross season was a back and forth battle for first place all year long. Davi Millsaps and reigning champion Ryan Villopoto swapped the lead several times during the season, but in the end, Villopoto came through to win his third consecutive 450SX Class Championship. He becomes the fifth rider in Supercross history to win three straight, joining legends like Ricky Carmichael and Jeremy McGrath. Add the 2013 Motocross championship to this and it was an incredible year for Ryan Villopoto. He currently has a very narrow two point lead over Chad Reed in the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross series.
