South of the Border Motocross Training Complex riders had an incredible week at the recently concluded AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s. SOBMX riders garnered an unbelievable twenty-four top 10 finishes including thirteen podiums and a whopping seven championships!
Leading the way in the championship haul was Jordan Jarvis of Clayton, North Carolina. JJ captured championships in the Girls 12-6 class and the Womans 14+. Jarvis was dominant winning four of six motos in her classes. Also with two championships was Bakersfield, California’s Jett Reynolds. Reynolds capped off an incredible week with his seventh and eighth consecutive championships, winning the 85cc 9-11 and 85cc 9-12 classes. Jett is to first rider to win eight championships in a row at the prestigious race held at Loretta Lynn’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN.
Jerry Robin, Bradley Taft and Seth Hammaker each won a national title. Robin topped the 250 A/B All-Star class by making a pass on the last lap of the last moto for the overall win! Taft won the premier class of the event, 250 A, to make it three years in a row with a win. Hammaker, sporting a butt patch that read “Seth Who?”, left no doubt who was the top rider in the Supermini 1 class. Hammaker fell just short of a double win, finishing second in Supermini 2.
Runner up finishers included Jyire Mitchell, Caden Braswell, and Katie Benson. Katie was second in all three of her motos to finish second overall in Girls 9-13 while Bermuda’s Jyire Mitchell was second in 450B. Braswell captured the second spot on the podium in the 85cc 9-11 class with a win in the final moto. Jamie Astudillo and Nick Romano each wound up with a third overall position with Romano, Braswell, and Reynolds sweeping the 85cc 9-11podium in unprecedented fashion! Astudillo followed up her podium in the Girls 12-16 with a fourth in the Woman’s 14+. Hogan Mims and Josh Gibbs each carded fourth place finishes, Gibbs in Supermini and Mims in 50cc 4-6.
Zackery Dobbs, Brandon Hartranft, Derek Kelley, Justin Rodbell, Gabe Gutierres, and Shelby Rolen each finished in the top ten capping off an awesome week for SOBMX riders.
