From all of us at SOBMX, a huge thank you to all who raced with us last weekend! Nearly six-hundred motocross riders from seven countries and 24 states converged on the South of the Border Motocross Training Complex in Hamer, SC last weekend for the South Youth Regional Motocross Championships. At stake were ninety-four “Golden Tickets” to the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

Riders from the ages of four to seventeen competed in nineteen classes at the event and the racing was fierce in all of the motos! Emile Lacher was the star in the youngest classes winning five out of six motos en route to regional championships in the 50cc 4-6 Special Limited and the 50cc 4-6 Limited classes. Georgia’s Crockett Myers won the 7-11 and 9-11 65cc classes while Matti Jorgenson swept the motos in 65cc 7-9. Louisiana rider Matt LeBlanc led nearly every lap of each of the six motos in the 85cc 9-11 classes and also scored a couple of seconds in the 65 classes. Devon Stodart was tops in the Mini Senior 1 class and Josh Gibbs captured the win in Senior Mini 2. TJ Rios dominated the second and third motos in Supermini 1 to take home the win while Luke Neese was the most consistent rider in Supermini 2, taking home the first regional championship of his career.

Caleb Carter piloted his KTM to the win in the first big bike class of the day, Schoolboy 1. Limited to 125 two stroke machines, this class produced some of the best racing of the day as Carter had his hands full with Austin Smith and Buddy Herring. In the fastest class of the day, Schoolboy 2, riders on 250 four-stroke machines saw Florida’s Jordan Bailey win all three motos to take the win. Ramyller Alves, Brock Papi and Jake Pinhancos were all in the mix but couldn’t quite catch the sunshine state rider. A huge thanks to all of our vendors including Jeff Cernic / Dunlop, Cobra Motorcycles, Defiance, Sampson’s Cycles, Triangle Cycles, Amsoil, and Kawasaki. An even bigger thanks to our partners at Victory Sports! Sam, Jane and the entire crew proved once again why they are the best motocross promoters in the business.
